Now I hope this document sent early, will have required impact on each our tenders even if not won.Īnd I am wondering if openly sharing it here will have any good early impact on design consultant (you) approaching building/unit coordinates in better way, early.
REVIT SAMPLE PROJECT FILE LOCATION HOW TO
I am coordinating (trying) all consultant and subcontractor 3D Revit models for many years, and imagine that in 2022 I am still receiving bad files, hence, why I am making this document after being tired of explaining how to do this after this many years. But in many instances I am receiving 3D models without regards of Project Base point and Internal origin, and those project need to be moved to this location. That is best practice and I changed wording a bit so it is clearer. I did not intend people to move their grid to Project Base Point, just as you said to have already grid positioned at this location. Thanks for comments.īLothian - in section 2.3.2 I agree with you.
REVIT SAMPLE PROJECT FILE LOCATION UPDATE
Proof reading is in progress, so I will update document when finished. I have updated Attached file to revision P06, taking in account cellophane and BLothian comments. To add to it, I created all 3D Revit files by myself, creating a few files simulating Architectural and Structural 3D models as example to not going into too many details, and when finished, all 3D models are working and are perfectly coordinated, and each is linking perfectly without any hiccups. I would be open to any good comments, filling any gaps I may have here. I read and watched a lot of articles and presentation, and I am confident this method should work, but I follow the principle, that more people involved, less risk is in the project.Ĭould you review attached document, and from your huge experience, provide me with comments and find any errors, to this, my, best practice way of setting up grid, site and coordination.īecause there can be many options, I just want you to confirm if that particular way is good enough, so I can share it with my consultant, confident enough it went through more eyes than my and few of my fellow Digital/BIM Managers. I know there is a lot of guides, discussion about this, and even youtube presentation, and I know there is more than one way of best practice. I have created example Guide for my company, to sort common project problem - Most projects which we receive are coming completely un-coordinated, and teams we are working with have troubles to follow best practice, to use world coordinates, project base points, etc.
